Virginia Woolf released her ground-breaking novel, "Mrs. Dalloway," in
1925. People have been talking about that book ever since, and Michael
Cunningham used it as the center of his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel
"The Hours."
Married to Leonard Woolf, Virginia and her husband were part of the
famous Bloomsbury Group. So was her sister, the artist Vanessa Bell,
who always remained close to the famous author.
In "The Hours," you will see Nicole Kidman portray Virginia Woolf as she
writes her famous novel. Fictional Laura Brown and Clarissa Vaughan,
who each live in America, are unwittingly drawn together because of
"Mrs. Dalloway." In our story behind the movie, you will meet and hear
the real Virginia Woolf. Visit her home, Monk's House, in the Sussex
village of Rodmell and see the place where she committed suicide by
drowning in the River Ouse.
