The Alamo The Story Behind the Movie
The Alamo, The Story Behind the Movie

Davy Crockett was no longer a Congressman from Tennessee when he met up with William Barret Travis and Jim Bowie at The Alamo.

The San Antonio fortress, then part of Mexico, was surrounded by Generalissimo Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna and thousands of his soldiers during late February and early March of 1836. Santa Anna stormed the former mission on March 6 and, during a vicious battle, all The Alamo defenders were killed. Two weeks later, Santa Anna ordered the deaths of hundreds more Texan soldiers during the Goliad Massacre.

In the movie, "The Alamo," you will see the legendary siege and battle come alive on screen. In our story behind the movie, you will meet the real people (including less famous figures like Juan Seguin, James Butler Bonham, and David Burnet) and see the real places (including the fortress, La Bahia Mission, and the battle scene of San Jacinto where Sam Houston shouted "Remember the Alamo" to rally his troops.) You will also take a trip to state and national archives to view original maps, documents and pictures important to both Mexico and America.
