The Four Feathers The Story Behind the Movie

It was just before the 1898 battle of Omdurman when fictional Harry Faversham faltered. Afraid to be a coward, disgracing himself and his fiancee Ethne Burroughs, he resigned from his regiment before he faced the enemy.

Troops, called into action to help Egyptian soldiers fight followers of The Mahdi in Sudan, were about to mount the British Army's last cavalry charge. Winston Churchill, then a young war correspondent, sent dispatches to military commanders like Colonel Hamilton.

In "The Four Feathers" you will see the novel written by A.E.W. Mason come alive on screen as Lt. Jack Durrance romances Ethne while Faversham (aided by Abou Fatma) regains his honor. In our story behind the movie, you will meet the historical characters and see the places where the action occurred.
